RL MAHALIAA

REDWOOD LODGE (RL) MAHALIAA  was a quite an unexpected shocker for Kim and I and our travel companians Bart Van Buggenhout and Carol and Stu Nierenberg when we visited Redwood Lodge in France in the summer of 2023. This journey started for us when Aljassimya bred and sold us a Redwood Lodge bred female lined mare (Sarra Aljassimya x Al Ayal) in the fall of 2022. 

Bart suggested we all fly and meet/see the female line in person and sit down with Steve and Kirsty and listen to their vision as breeders of world class Arabians for over 40 years . The Redwood Lodge bloodlines are sought out all over the world.

After laying eyes on this very feminine correct cloud of spirit and structure, Kim and I immediately looked into each others eyes and had the same thought - PLEASE allow us to have her as a Rose City Arabian. I must say, we have never had to work so hard to buy a horse in our lives...:) Steve and Kirsty had turned down multiple offers on Mahaliaa as she is their 5th generation and obviously a proud moment for Redwood Lodge. Kim and I knew they did have 3 full sister siblings of all ages and Mahaliaa was the youngest so we thought we may have at least a chance at adding Mahaliaa to our Rose City collection.

Steve and Kirsty had a few days to consider if there was any way this sale could make sense for them and Redwood Lodge. After speaking to the owner in Australia (Sue Patrick), below is a portion of the email we recieved that made our whole trip!

From Kirsty at Redwood Lodge: RL MAHALIAA represents 40 years of selective Redwood breeding, 5th generation and she is the combination of the very best horses we have ever bred. The product of a life time dream. It is such a unique pedigree and no one else in the world has this bloodline and female line. So for this reason it’s been incredibly difficult for us to put a value on her, especially knowing she has yet to reach her full potential, we only dream and imagine what she will look like when she’s fully matured and flea bitten like her older sister. 

Kim and I thank Steve and Kirsty 1000 times over for trusting us with their beautufil RL Mahaliaa and allowing us to add Mahaliaa to our collection - even though we had to keep her on their beautiful Rewood Lodge property...:)
